Become a volunteer

A4 strongly encourages the idea of volunteering in Slovakia and Europe. The volunteers from the Comenius University’s Department of Cultural Studies and other students of fields connected with culture became considerable part of our team. Working in the A4, they gain the experience and get to see how an independent cultural centre functions. This might encourage them to consider a career in culture. Since 2014, A4 has been a part of EVS Erasmus+, an international volunteer program, in the position of hosting and sending organisation. Foreign volunteers come to A4 for a long-term stay (usually 1 year). They learn about processes in cultural centre, the composing of programmes, organizing of concerts, festivals and workshops. Our EVS volunteers are often art-oriented and the gained experience improves their future career chances in culture, networking and builds up their skills. Activities of our volunteers include organisation of community festival Nomadic Arts Festival, workshop of contact improvisation, various promotion activities, translation of texts, blogging, photographing and video-making, guiding of artists and everyday help with running of cultural centre A4.

A4 is also a place for residency stays of interantional artists, who are offered space for work and presentation of their new artworks.
