ESC volunteer for our media team wanted!

We are looking for one volunteer for an ESC-project for the period February – September 2020.

The deadline for applications (CV and motivation letter): February 3rd 2020.

Volunteer profile

We are looking for a volunteer with an interest in contemporary art, culture and society. He/she wants to be part of a creative team and learn how an independent cultural organisation works. In this context, the volunteer works in a team and brings in pro-active energy. Flexibility is important; the work schedule depends on the program of events. So the volunteer sometimes has to work during the weekend and in the evening.

The volunteer we’re looking for has an interest in photo documentation of the events, graphic design, writing reports and articles for the A4 Zine and developing the wordpress blog, doing interviews with artists, helping with project and cultural management, etc. There’s also an opportunity to develop a personal (artistic) project.

Tasks

The volunteer will be involved in the processes related to everyday operation of an independent cultural venue. The most important in this are promotion and production. For the promotion of the venue, the volunteer will help with A4’s social media, distributing posters in the city (2 times per month), graphic design, maintaining the website, etc. For the production, the volunteer will sell tickets before the events, guide the local and foreign artists who play in our space, prepares basic technical equipment, etc. Besides that, the volunteer helps at the cafe, with the little garden in the backyard, he/she will do some small administration tasks and more. The volunteer organizes (together with our other volunteers) an event which is aimed at promoting ESC and connects (international) volunteers in Slovakia. Our team of the volunteers is running the monthly A4 Zine so the volunteers will have opportunity to participate and develop the writing and general productions skills of the magazine.

Other activities depend on mutual discussion and on individual preferences, background and profile of the volunteer. He/she can develop his/her own project which makes sense and fits with our programme (for example a workshop, exhibition, blog, movie, etc.). In short, the activities are very varied and there is a lot of space to discuss preferences of the volunteer. We are looking for a volunteer with a creative approach who will be dedicated and actively look for new tasks and activities.
