Position for videomaking

We are looking for one volunteer for an ESC-project for 12 months: Sept. 2019 – Sept. 2020.

The deadline for applications (CV and motivation letter): August 9th 2019.

Volunteer profile

We are looking for a volunteer with an interest in art, culture and society. He/she wants to be part of a creative team and learn how an independent cultural organisation works. In this context, he/she works in a team and bring in pro-active energy. The volunteer is flexible: the work schedule depends on the program of events. So the volunteer sometimes have to work during the weekend and in the evening. The time schedule will be adjusted according to the needs of the volunteer and the staff of A4.

We are looking for a volunteer who is interested in creating photo and video documentation of the events and activities we organize (concerts, theater, dance performances, exhibitions, so on). He/she would like to improve his/her skills in this and can cooperate with professional videomakers. The volunteer will also be responsible for uploading the documentation on our web gallery and social media. Besides that, he/she will do interviews with international artists playing in A4 and will improve his/her skills in graphic design. We do not provide the camera or the PC for editing, so the volunteer should bring his/her own.

Tasks

Besides the video specialization volunteer will be involved also in the processes related to everyday operation of an independent cultural venue. The most important in this are promotion and production. For the promotion of the venue, the volunteer will help with A4’s social media, distributing posters in the city (2 times per month), basic graphic design, maintaining the website, etc. For the production, the volunteer will sell tickets before the events, is the host of the foreign artists who play in our space, prepares basic technical equipment, etc. Besides this, the volunteer helps at the cafe, with the little garden in the backyard, he/she will do some small administration tasks and more. Every month the volunteer organizes (together with our other volunteers) an event called WhatEVS which is aimed at promoting ESC and connects (international) volunteers in Slovakia.

Other activities depend on mutual discussion and on individual preferences, background and profile of the volunteer. He/she can develop his/her own project which makes sense and fits with our programme (for example workshop, exhibition, blog, movie, etc). In short, the activities are very varied and there is a lot of space to discuss preferences of the volunteer. We are looking for a volunteer with a creative approach who will be dedicated and actively look for new tasks and activities.

The structure of activities depends on the season – The peak of the events is in the autumn (dance festivals, music festivals, a lot of different theatre performances, etc.).
