Paris, 1967. Jean-Luc Godard is filming the movie La Chinoise with the seventeen-year-old Anna Wiazemsky – a woman he loves and will later marry. They are happy and in love, but the movie’s critique created strong doubt in Godard, which were strengthened by the events of May 1968. The crisis he overcomes changes him drastically: a famous filmmaker becomes a Maoist artist standing outside the system, equally misunderstood as incomprehensible.
