Mourir à trente ans, directed by Romain Goupil, FR, 95 min, FR + EN subtitles

A famous film about the radical French student’s movement and the Paris May of 1968, awarded the Golden Camere at the Canne Festival. Romain Goupil connects a deeply personal reflection about a decade, centered around May, with a psychological portrait of a revolutionary and film self-reflection. It is an homage to his friend Michel Recantime, one of the leaders of the movement, but also it is an attempt to understand why he committed suicide. It is an essay about ideals and disillusion about May 68 without bland descriptions, about the in/ability to capture the world on camera or about the inseparability of film and politics.

In cooperation with the French Institute.
