starring Kamil Kollárik, Alexander Maďar, Marián Mitaš, Andrej Kováč and Gejza Dezorz, puppets and set design Von Dubravay, music by Marián Čekovský, directed by Gejza Dezorz
Dezorz’s puppet theatre – the only puppet theatre for adults in Slovakia – presents a shocking theatre grotesque by the French pata-physic and cyclist Alfred Jarry called King Ubu. Alfred Jarry is considered to be the father of surrealism and absurd theatre. In his play he describes the bizarre ways of human behavior and all the rowdiness of the world. In Dezorz’s puppet theatre version King Ubu is a deviant without emotions capable of anything. He’s a dictator, an egoist, a hypocrite, a power thirsty demon, a murderer and a beast dressed human skin.
This theatre play was supported by public funds of the Slovak Arts Council and Bratislava Autonomous Region.
