CinemAfrica: Boxing Libreville

entry: vstupné dobrovoľné

directed by Amédée Pacôme Nkoulou, GA, 55 min., French with English subtitles

Getting to know the contemporary African cinema continues in Gabon. The documentary film Boxing Libreville follows the story of young Christ who trains tirelessly during the day and works as a bouncer during nights to make ends meet. From the radio we hear that the country is getting ready for elections that could bring a democratic change. Christ is not interested in politics, he only cares about the trainings, his work and his girlfriend. Similarly to Christ the film itself keeps its distance – seemingly not showing too much and keeping everything just hinted.

Organized in cooperation with the French Institute.
