Six Organs of Admittance (US), Václav Havelka (CZ)

After many years, the project of the American guitarist, composer and singer-songwriter Ben Chasny, who has been one of the prominent figures of the independent scene combining psychedelic folk and experimental guitar music since the end of the 1990s, will visit Slovakia and A4 again. His roots go back to the Californian underground, where he was, among others, in the legendary noise-rock band Comets on Fire or in the improvisational project Rangda together with Richard Bishop (Sun City Girls) and Chris Corsano. Since its debut album in 1998, the Six Organs of Admittance project has undergone a fascinating evolution – from obscure, minimalist cassette recordings to elaborate studio albums on sound labels like Drag City. Important milestones in Chasny’s career include the award-winning album School of the Flower, on which he fused folk practices with ambient experimentation, and radical psychedelic recordings such as Ascent and the hypnotic concept album Hexadic, inspired by his own system of card-based musical composition. The two most recent releases return to a band-based sound and add a collaboration with producer Shackleton.

Six Organs of Admittance concerts are known for their immersive atmosphere, where virtuosic guitar playing blends naturally with improvised passages. ‘An intimate cosmic expression, file under: rural-industrial psych, ecosystem goth.’
