A4 Zine launch

entry: free entrance

In the current times of uncertainty and turbulence, our emotions, bodies and identities are in constant motion. Perception is volatile, individual and collective. Intrigued by the Slovak cultural context, A4’s international volunteers present the A4 Zine: Fragments. This publication highlights the work of three local artists whose practices explore transformation, fluidity and distortion.

The zine launch will be accompanied by an exhibition featuring the selected works in which the body becomes the focus, a reflection of how we perceive ourselves and how we belong to something bigger, shaping and being shaped by culture. Throughout the evening, you can enjoy two live music performances, creating a moment for connection, reflection, and shared experience.

PROGRAMME

18:30 zine launch and exhibition opening

19:30 JankⒶ Divotvorná – musical performance

20:30 fedja3000 – live set

FEATURED ARTISTS

Zuzana Firmentová. Is a multidisciplinary artist whose curiosity pushes her to move, go forward and explore the world even when she doesn’t know what she will find. Things that seem compatible but resist each other — textures, colours, energy — and then the stark elegance of monochrome: those are her fuels.

Nicholas Wintzler. Is a musician and visual artist whose work bends between spontaneous impulse and elaborated post-production, where distortion, texture, and inner sensitivity collide in poetic resistance. For him, art is a form of dialogue with the world, is a way of having a conversation with everything that surrounds him.

Michal Zahornacky. Is a visual artist that works primarily with photography, but not to document, rather to disrupt. He wants to create images that make people stop, look again, and question what they see. He is not offering answers — He is offering space for doubt and contemplation.

MUSIC PERFORMERS

JankⒶ Divotvorná. Is making art primarily in the media of sewn collage, drawing, painting, crochet, trash assembaž, field recordings, audio collage and distortion. It will perform an improvisation that distorts the sounds in the space using several unconventional instruments. The performance aims to challenge our ideas and conceptualisations of music and remind us of its deep connection to the physical, space, and movement.

fedja3000. Is a multidisciplinary artist from Slovenia, doing everything from circus, video, graphics, to music. Probably a musician first, he likes to improvise with a piano, but is also not afraid to play a club tune from time to time. So for his performance in A4, he will do an Ableton Live performance with live sampling, various instruments and his voice. Maybe it will be a dance, maybe a chill. Who knows where the vibe takes us?

This is a project made by the international volunteers from A4, whose aim is to highlight the work of emerging Slovak artists and create an international space to share, enjoy and promote culture and art. Funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council and the Bratislava City Foundation.
