My Favorite Job, 2022 / Digging, directed by Sashko Protyah / Oksana Kazmina, 2022, 32 & 22 min., Ukrainian with English and Slovak subtitles

Freefilmers is a collective of filmmakers and artists coming from Mariupol in Ukraine. For the last five years they have been working with the themes of urban transformation of eastern Ukraine and its multicultural vibes. They examined the creativity of the working class and the industrial past and present of post-socialist towns. Their current projects are focused on memories and archives beyond the frames of official historical narratives and gendered violence in patriarchal capitalist society. Always committed to values of anti-capitalism and intersectional feminism – their goal was to create a new and different form of film creation – founded on principles of cooperation and ethical approach. Since 24th February 2022, when Russia started its large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the collective has been dedicated to helping the most endangered groups affected by the war.
In the third edition of the benefit screenings we present 2 newest films by the collective – possibly hosting the author Sashko Protyah in the Q&A afterwards.
