The iconic duo CocoRosie, made up of American sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady, is heading back to Slovakia after ten years. Their music, classified somewhere between indie pop, freak folk and electronica, also combines elements of hip hop, blues and opera in a distinctive way. In March, they release their eighth studio album “Little Death Wishes”, with which they embark on a European tour. The sisters will be accompanied by beatboxer TEZ and a string quartet.
Sierra is a classically trained opera singer and theatre actress whose lyrical soprano contrasts with the distinctive vocals of Bianca, who is also a theatre director, poet and visual artist, among other things. In over 20 years, CocoRosie has become an integral part of the global alternative scene, managing to collaborate with figures such as Anohni (Antony & the Johnsons), the Kronos Quartet and avant-garde theatre maker Robert Wilson. Their poetic lyrics reflect on themes of human rights, feminism, and taboo social phenomena, with each performance a ritualistic transition into a peculiar, magical world.
