The Calling

Unconventionally honest documentary film about the different versions of spirituality follows the story of three monks from the orthodox monastery Počájivská Lávra in the west of Ukraine. We see them in their everydayness – part of which is also taking care of the monastery that also serves as a pilgrimage site where thousands of believers flee. Their memories of secular life and reasons why they decided to become monks also reflect on the post-socialist political development in Ukraine and in East Europe.
