All the cats are gray: music and sadness

entry: 3 €

How does depression in pop music happen and why is contemporary independent music so obsessed with sadness? Is there a way out? Lecture of Karel Veselý and Miloš Hroch will try to find an answer. The journalists – well known from Radio Wave, Full Moon and Alarm –  will draft the history of sadness in popular music in a series of music videos and listenings in their presentation. From Beatles through Joy Division and Sufjan Stevens to today’s emo rap, Veselý and Hroch will connect hopelessness in pop with politics and apocalyptic thinking that is needed to be replaced by new optimism and hope.
