Dezorz’s puppet theatre: Johanes Faust

entry: 7 € / 5 € students

Dezorz’s puppet theatre will introduce a unique project Slovak Marionette Theatre with which it renews the tradition of historical puppet theatre played by comedians in Europe for almost four centuries. This tradition had begun in Slovakia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Creating the Slovak Marionette Theatre is a homage to the old puppetry masters and the beautiful tradition – the Czech and Slovak puppetry was officially included in the Representative list of the intangible cultural heritage UNESCO in 2016. Johanes Faust is not only the most famous but also the most popular play that had been played by almost all the itinerant european puppeteers from the 17th till the 19th century. Humorous play about the limits of human knowledge with the raw wit of the butler Gašparko shines in its attractive puppetry version – with some magic and the spooky entertainment of the little devils that are set to take Faust to hell.
