“What is the world?” asks Ondřej Vavrečka in the introduction of his diverging philosophical essay. Is it even possible to know, understand and describe something as coincidental and discontinuous, as unanchored in time and space, as today’s times are? Isn’t it pointless to look for meaning when there is none? Instead of searching for fixed points, the author focuses on holes and gaps, instability and imperfection – in nature, culture, love and work. Together with scientists and philosophers like Althusser or Žižek, the author examines how to think emptiness in a form of lively, stylistically and thematically eclectic collage.

Conceptual experimental film by filmmaker, curator and current dean of FAMU, Andrea Slováková, is loosely inspired by the essential work by French philosophers Gilles Deleuz and Félix Guattari “1000 plateaus” and focuses on the audiovisual articulation of the term as a basis of thinking through the medium of film.
