Directed by Dea Kulumbegashvili, Georgia / France, 2020, 125 min., Georgian language with Czeck subtitles

The director Dea Kulumbegashvili builds on her two award-winning short films (previously screened at the festival Cannes) with her impressive feature debut. In a sleepy rural town an extremist group attacks a community of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the midst of the conflict, the world of Yana, the wife of the leader of the community, slowly disintegrates. Her inner dissatisfaction grows as she tries to understand her own needs and desires. Her closed off, schematic and static world is interrupted by two acts of violence.

The film will be screened as a part of the Be2Can show.
