One cold February morning, twelve-year-old Niki and his family arrive at the Kharkiv metro station to hide from the terrifying war raging in the streets of their city. For Niki’s family, daylight becomes synonymous with mortal danger. The boy can’t leave the premises of the station where he lives together with hundreds of other people under the constant glow of neon lights. Niki wanders aimlessly around abandoned carriages and platforms and when he meets Vika, a whole new world opens up for him. The children gradually get closer and together find the courage to feel the rays of the sun on their faces again.

The film was screened at the IFF Venice as a part of the Special Events program of the Giornate degli Autori section.
