Futurit: Nepo baby – Do privileged conditions make better music?

entry: free entry

Nepotism works demonstrably in Hollywood, and certainly in music. Vampire Weekend, Taylor Swift, The Strokes, Billie Eilish and others come from privileged, wealthy families, or at least had the opportunity to attend art schools.

On the other hand, there are artists from Detroit, from excluded and disadvantaged areas, where great music is made in poverty and decay.

We won’t just count the family clans that hold their positions and don’t let up the obvious talent. We’ll talk about authenticity and we’ll hear some stories from the days of Czech-Slovak normalization pop music. At Petr Dolník’s Futurit music lecture.

The presentation will be in Slovak.

Supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council and Bratislava City Foundation.
