Oker (NO), Bratislava Improvisers Orchestra

entry: presale 8 € / 6 € reduced // at the door 10 € / 8 € reduced

The acoustic quartet Oker (Torstein Lavik Larsen – trumpet, Adrian Fiskum Myhr – double bass, Fredrik Rasten – acoustic guitar, Jan Martin Gismervik – drums & percussion) brings us from Oslo, Norway a delicate combination of composition and improvisation. Their music combines tuned tonalities, deconstructed grooves, acoustic noise and other sonic events. Gradually shifting textures, along with both sensitive and spontaneous gestures, create a varied but coherent musical flow with a restrained expression that sets the group’s sound apart from most work in improvised music or free jazz.

Alongside this, you will also experience another, always different and always surprising performance by A4’s ever-changing resident ensemble, the Bratislava Improvisers Orchestra. The ensemble was formed last year and consists of a loose group of musicians playing both acoustic and electronic instruments, dedicated to free improvised music of various forms.

Supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council and Bratislava City Foundation.
