Vtáčnik

entry: presale 5 € / 4 € discounted // at the door 6 €

Directed by Eva Križková (SK/CZ), 2024, 70 min., Slovak spoken, no subtitles

The film Vtáčnik delves into the lives of the inhabitants of a Bratislava neighbourhood. Fragments of local stories of the inhabitants of a neighbourhood with the characteristic name of Vtáčnik are mixed with the director’s memories of her childhood and reflections on the bird community. The director’s old-settler’s view with a bird’s eye view. The research thus takes a local urban problem to a global philosophical level: What does our behavior, settlement, and coexistence say about the future of our species? Is it rather pragmatism or imagination that will help humanity to survive on this planet?

Dear visitors,

The leadership of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic is taking steps that are destroying Slovak culture! Their power interventions and changes in laws threaten our functioning as well as freedom and diversity of art. We protest against this course! The cultural centers associated in the Anténa network call on you, our audience, not to stay indifferent. We call on you to follow current events, visit our cultural spaces and discuss.

Stay with us and let’s fight together for free culture.
