Brandon Lopez and Bratislava Improvisers Orchestra

entry: pay what you can

New York-based double bassist and composer Brandon Lopez is all about improvisation and exploring new sonic possibilities of the double bass, from which he is able to extract the impossible. He currently teaches improvisation and double bass at the New School of Jazz. He has collaborated with such names as John Zorn, The Mat Maneri Quartet, Nate Wooley, Satoko Fuji, Zeena Parkins, and many others. His most recent solo recording was awarded Best of 2023 by NYC Jazz Record magazine.

In addition to his solo concert, you will also experience another, always different and always surprising performance by A4’s ever-changing resident ensemble, the Bratislava Improvisers Orchestra. The ensemble is made up of a loose group of musicians playing both acoustic and electronic instruments, dedicated to freely improvised music of various forms. This time the orchestra will present the output from a workshop with Brandon Lopez.
