Drama Queer: Olga Ciężkowska: Lesbian Sunset (PL)

entry: 12 € / 8 € discounted

This was supposed to be a completely different show. It was born out of a need to commodify the lesbian experience, defined by a narrative of cultural scarcity. Especially in a country that hadn’t survived its sexual revolution and didn’t hold its first equality parade until 2001. How to find and understand one’s identity when role models and reference points are absent? When defiance of normative frameworks and descriptions of female desire have been virtually absent in the culture? What is it like to feel part of a missing piece of history?

We wanted to fill the gap with our own fantasies of queer women’s erased pasts. And then suddenly there was an unexpected discovery – Mielno 87′, supposedly the first unofficial lesbian convention in Poland! Only one reference was found, a brief mention published years later on Women to Women. Little data, no information in the archives. This was our missing piece.

After the performance, there will be a discussion.
