Darina Žurková – Edges: Prepared Piano & Electronics

Delving into the rich and unobtrusive inner soundscape of the piano, revealing the most delicate and raw sounds and blending them with electronic progressions – these elements combine to create a remarkable sonic environment within this project.

Darina Žurková is a composer, performer, pianist and sound artist based in The Hague, the Netherlands. Her work includes electroacoustic compositions, performances, fix media, live sets and sound installations and has been presented at venues and festivals in Europe, Indonesia and the United States. She is deeply fascinated by exploring imaginary sound ecosystems and revealing their inner fragility. Darina holds a PhD in composition and composition theory from the JAMU in Brno, has worked as a researcher at the Institute of Sonology (2018 – 2023) and is a member of the iii (Instrument Inventors Initiative) workspace and the STROOM platform in The Hague.
