Luka Zabric (SI/DK), Bratislavský improvizačný orchester
entry: pay what you can

A double concert of improvised music, during which you will experience a solo performance by Slovenian saxophonist Luka Zabric and a joint set with the resident ensemble in A4 – the Bratislava Improvisers Orchestra.
Saxophonist Luka Zabric grew up in Ljubljana, Slovenia, but has been based in Copenhagen since 2020. Inspired by the saxophone’s wide sound palette, he uses extended techniques and acoustic training to expand his musical language and diversify his compositional and improvisational practices in his own projects and artistic collaborations.
The collaboration with the Bratislava Improvisers Orchestra, a transformative electroacoustic ensemble dedicated to various forms of free and guided improvisation, will be an outcome of a workshop. It is conceived as a series of compositional cells, derived from the rhythmic motifs and textural qualities inherent in Zabric’s solo work, with extended techniques and acoustic preparations of the instrument. Through layering, spontaneous interaction and collective composition, the musicians and musicians will seek ways to merge the various compositional fragments into a holistic whole in order to find ways of collective coexistence through individual musical agency.
Supported from public funds by the Slovak Arts Council and the Bratislava City Foundation.
