We will begin our retrospective of the Canadian artist Dominic Gagnon with the subtitle Digital Dystopia, with a hard critique of contemporary capitalism. DATA is a film about the Quebec based collective Au travail / At Work, which inspired by the Situationist International calls people to act subversively at work and (miss)use the means of production for crazy (and funny) things. We will follow a discussion on the philosophy of this collective and see tens of YouTube videos showing things like office chair races which are contextualized by Gagnon, from boundless internet fun to serious discourse and revolt against the system.
