Do you feel safe? Discussion about feminist approaches to safety

entry: voluntary entry

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in March 2022, many questions arose about security (not only) in Central and Eastern Europe. How can feminist studies of safety help us understand the new challenges? How do everyday aspects of safety related to gender-based violence, the masculinity of institutions or living and working conditions relate to the security of countries? What can history tell us about the critical patriotism of women in Central and Eastern Europe? These and other questions will be discussed by: historian Andrea Pető (Hungary), sociologist Weronika Grzebalska (Poland) and researcher Míla O’Sullivan (CZ). The discussion will be held in English, moderated by Zuzana Maďarová.

Organized by ASPEKT in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
