The Direct Action Union: 100th Anniversary of International Workingmen’s Association (IWA) Foundation

The Direct Action Union invites you to the event on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of founding of the International Workingmen’s Association on the 4th of March.
As a part of the program, there will be a presentation about important periods of the history of the IWA, the biggest portion of the program will belong to current themes and discussions about the challenges linked with founding unions and successful self-organization. Guests from different countries are invited to share their experiences – Wiener ArbeiterInnen-Syndikat from Vienna, Irish union Organise!, the Solidarity Federation from the UK, the current IWA secretary from Poland and the Direct Action Union from Slovakia.
An exhibition of photographs and other historical materials mapping the activities of IWA between 2000 and 2022 will also take place.
International Workingmen’s Association was founded in 1922 and is the oldest federation, which connects anarcho-syndicalist unions. It brings together organizations from over twenty countries around the world – including Slovakia.
