Lidi & Kapitalks: Imagination of trans* folk in Czech and Slovak republic

entry: Entrance fee: voluntary / the full amount will be donated to the organizations Prizma, Tepláreň and Light FF UK

directed by Kateř Tureček, ČR, 2022, 47min., Czech language

“Well, you are mine*”
Non-binary director Kateř Tureček explores, examines and clarifies trans* identities in a stylized documentary mosaic. A combination of professional film shooting, phone footage and 3D animation creates a tension and correlation between tradition, history, trans* activism and intimate life. Because no human or tribe lives disconnected. We peek into a kitchen where a family is frying schnitzels, into ostentatious preparations of the Ride of the Kings festival, removal of a binder in a bathroom, into a meeting of a prehistoric tribe or into the fantasy about the female President, angered by insufficient law protection of trans* folk.
We found out that euphoria comes out of understanding.
The film was created by a film crew consisting of trans* people as a part of its goal to support marginalized groups. The film is a honest view into the lives of trans* folk in the Czech republic through intuitive identitary film.
(* in the quote, originally in Czech language, the “mine” is a gendered word, referring to a female, who is “somebody’s” / referred to by someone as theirs)

The film screening is followed by a discussion and an afterparty – in cooperation with the monthly magazine Kapitál.
