Directed by Alice Diop, FR, 2022, 122 min., French with Czech subtitles

In the story by the acclaimed documentarian Alice Diop a young writer faces her personal trauma as she watches the trial of a woman accused of killing her own child. Award winning director Alice Diop focuses the lens of her camera on the injustice and personal stories of various immigrant communities from Parisian peripheries.

In her fiction feature debut, the director tells the story with her typical sensitivity, loosely adapted from a report published in 2013 in the Black Chronicle section. The young woman then allegedly abandoned her 15-month-old daughter on a beach in northern France as the tide was coming in, leaving her to her fate.
