Hana Kokšalová: Terra Incognita (Premiere)

entry: pay what you can

Come and immerse yourself in the mysterious world of the underground through a multimedia performance by the interdisciplinary artist and performer Hana Kokšalová. Her performance Terra Incognita is the result of her month-long residency at A4 and the culmination of her long-term research on the topic of the underground. She understands it as a free and unknown space, hardly accessible to humans and therefore resistant to colonization.

Terra Incognita is a collage of small stories of a complex research theme, set in a special scenographic environment. The performance was created in collaboration with the musician Vendi Heř as an immersion into the depths of both the earth and the human body.

Hana Kokšalová studies at the Environment Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, VÚT in Brno. She works with various media, creates performances, videos, installations and is engaged in a wide range of expressions from social interaction to politicising performances staged in public space.

The performance will be followed by a discussion, where together with the artist we will reflect on our impressions of the performance and the artist’s practice. The discussion will be in Czech and Slovak.

Supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council and Bratislava City Foundation. The performance was created within the Visegrad Artist Residency Program with the support of the International Visegrad Fund.
