Our show explores physical struggle against repetetive, mundane, and (ultimately) impossible tasks. Set in a liminal space resembling a laundromat – realised withcorporeal mime and live sound capture techniques – the users of this laundromat find myriad ways to attempt and fail their tasks, becoming subject to increasingly obtuse physical demands as the tasks start to bend and shape their bodies. The show is inspired by the the theory of radical care and the book After Work: A History of the Home and the Fight for Free Time by Helen Hester and Nick Srnicek. Will the laundry ever be done? Will the bell never toll? How many times can you solve a problem and stay sane? How will you ever live in the real world again?
WARNING: Mild swear words.
