A series of three short films about adolescence by three directors from different parts of the world. Three perspectives on adolescence and three pivotal events that will forever change the lives of our protagonists.

Sea Salt

Directed by Leila Basma (LB), 2023, 22 min., Arabic spoken + Slovak subtitles

On this hot summer day on the southern seaside of Lebanon, 17-year-old Nayla is faced with the same dilemma every Lebanese youngster is faced with today – to leave or to stay. Two men in her life have set ideas about it, but both might wake up to a surprise.

Jsme v tom spolu

Directed by Anna Wowra (CZ), 2023, 19 min., Czech spoken

In Anna Wowra’s film Jsme v tom spolu (We’re in this together), Viki, Sara and Kiki, inseparable friends since childhood, are about to spend a free afternoon like one of many others – vodka, cigarettes, talking about everything and nothing. The dynamic between them is different today, more explosive. One of them has advanced to the next round of model casting, increasing her chances of leaving an environment where dreams and hopes don’t exist. Her friends might want to support her… if only their angry sadness and envy weren’t so insistent… A merciless but non-judgmental look at growing up without the prospect of brighter tomorrows.

Gritty Eyes

Oči plné piesku. Directed by Juraj Janiš (SK/CZ), 2023, 30 min., Slovak spoken

Gritty Eyes is the story of Miňo, who doesn’t want much from life: some change, the occasional joint and someone else to love. His family is left in ruins, so he seeks closeness with his brother and his girlfriend, with whom Miňo is secretly in love. They make their living by petty theft and live day to day, until one fateful evening when Miňo’s life changes irrevocably.
