Festival of transgender culture: The world according to Gabriel

The first edition of the festival of transgender culture is devoted to the memory of tragically passed away Gabriel Švábenský who committed suicide on the 5th of March 2018. The goal of the festival is to increase the level of awareness about the lives and communities of trans people in Slovakia in the form of debates, theatre performances and concerts. The main motive is to shine light on the critical situation of transgender people and introducing their lives to the mainstream audience.

The play got awarded the GRAND PRIX award by the international jury, the Award of Bratislava Viewer at the festival New Drama and was nominated for the Award of the Foundation of Tatra Bank.
“You love that person, fuck, you really do, but you can’t, you can’t be with them. You can’t lay next to them – and if you do, you feel like you’re going to be sick. It’s impossible. So then they act it out. How can they live like that? Fuck it.”
The play was financially supported by the regional funding scheme of BSK.
