In the second half of the month we will premiere the film Hamburg Grids in collaboration with Príbeh Nula about the confrontation of police and protest goers in Hamburg in 2017. The end of the month in our cinema will bring back the work of the acclaimed director Claire Denis and her new sci-fi film High Life starring Robert Pattinson.

LECTURES in A4

News from history! April starts off with a new series of lectures in Kafe A4. Besides the regular and popular Futurit, Teasing and lectures of Paľo Fabuš, the series Messages will concentrate on Slovak history. Lead by the young historian Lukáš Krajčír, who is a historian in the Slovak history association of Matica Slovenská, we will look into the issues of women’s rights and emancipation and talk about one of the first feminists in our history, Hana Gregorová. Just a few days after the first female president of Slovak Republic was elected, the lecture is a reminder of the need for the female voices to be heard when making historical and political decisions.

MUSIC IN A4

We are welcoming the spring with musicians Tashi Wada, Julia Holter and Corey Fogel. The mystical and minimalistic music of Tashi Wada comes from L.A. and is combined with songs of Julia Holter and percussions of Corey Fogel. Get ready for the acoustic experiments with resonance and tuning and captivating yet simple musical moments. The evening will start with the performance of Slovak musician Michal Vaľko and his project Line Gate and the archaic instrument ninere.

Another concert performance of April is coming to A4 from Czech Republic. Roman Radkovič and his band will be singing about our planet, giraffes, Robin Hood and search for the end of the world and the beginning of music. The April lecture of the music series Futurit will be very special and Easter-ish. We will explore the phenomena of Easter Eggs, mostly known from films and video games. Peter Dolník is set to uncover the secrets and hidden bonuses of various albums and recordings in a wide music spectrum.
